The Setup...

Well, week two is just about over and the main outline for my machinama is done. Now I'm onto beefing it up a bit. Enhancing the environment and characters with more descriptive writing and then starting the script.

Interactive Storytelling 101

Ok, so today was the first interactive storytelling class. It's definatley a "think out side the box" subject and it tested me as a person, my thought process if you will. Perhaps I could incorporate the writing exercises we did to build my story for the Machinama brief... It tests my will to break away from the sole idea of attempting something beyond my reach and creating something Fantastic that will WOW Everyone! which I know we all sometimes get hung up on?
But maybe in the process of trying a different way of thinking and just writing bites and pieces of a story perhaps something quirky may arise .

Influences are like a double edged blade.

On the other hand we did have a discussion that really got my thoughts going and it certainly rose a few questions and ideas from my fellow class mates.
Does a story to tell make a game worth playing?
The industry itself shows that you don't need a story to be successful, but then again there are plenty of titles that have utilised a story and have gone on to make multiple titles .

Hmmm...
Well I believe that everyone has their own opinion. We arn't all clones so there is of course going to be a variety of thoughts.

Me, I enjoy a good story , I find a game much more compelling if the tale is in-depth and the world believable.
A good game also uses the story to mask the more banal quests you may have to accomplish whilst playing.
Also because I'm an artist so I generally looked at how the world relates to the artistic development...

I guess you have to make your own mind.
Don't let anyone put you off games, Try them all for yourself!!!
