The Many Worlds of Machinima

So here I am again talking about the machinima we are building during the semester. Today is simply how to get to know our worlds better.

Ok so I'm just going to flesh it out through a bunch of questions.

Being (What is the dominant species? Brief Description of them.)

The dominant species are humans however the characters portrayed within the short film are infact beyond the limitations that humans have. They dont have super powers but rather the advanced knowlege and seem to be much more comfortable in the time they are stuck within.

Humans seem to be much more arogant and care for nothing to a much worse extent then they are today. Their is only one race now of multi colooured and multi speaking people.

Movement

The movement is simple everything abides by the laws of gavity .

Time

Time is a very big factor in the game as the characters are the personification of norse gods .It also plays a roll in the mkain characters apartment. He doesn't believe in having television or anything electrical, he merely has candles and other utensils that had been around in the 12th century.

Transport

Transport in the outside environment is similar to the 2008 cityscape environment. However a little more futuristic as mankind enters a new stage of the technical age.

Landforms (describe the terrain and environment)

The machinima takes place in a world where human kind is splitting into a more destinct hierachies the upper class live in their ivory towers that is more modernised and the lower class are being forced into a more affordable slum lifestyle where people are crampt into apartments big enough for two people to live( when there are whole families living in these tiny spaces).

Colours and sense

The world is sterilised and clean above the surface however when you look alot closer it is a dirty pit of bodies. The sense are more grotesque as the sewerage and garbage that mankind has not disposed of properly is rising from the ground and creating disease. However the culture in food and arts has grown widely and alot of people have turned tyheir dens into cultural masterpieces.

Technical

The world is moving into a new age of technology but it is only the beginning , thus many of the tools and sciences of a new world are still being tried and tested.

Communication

The world is of many languages however they have a universal language and telecommunication.
The characters however still relies on written communication as they do not believe in the technical world.

Government

There is a hierachy in place and it is not for the better of mankind more infavour of the selfish ivory tower type of companies.
The slums however are given food and are looked after but they still suffer a crampt lifestyle

Culture

In the outside world everything looks much more modern and they appress expression outside of their own appartments.
There are many beliefs however everyone is at peace with others culturals they all however disagree with the dictation of the new age.

Life Pattern

People tender to work then go home . The streets are dangerous therefore they dont go out as much unless to underground societies which are illegal.

Family

Strong family bonds as the heirachy runs from the bloodlines, you inherit alot of property company positions etc. They also all live together in the slums . However if you are more accomplished in society the familys live out of home.

Appearance

There is a sense of drabness in the attire of most people they dont wear many bright colours in reflection with the mood . Most upper class people where corperate suits etc. the lower class where rags almost like bums however they try show anarchy against the dictatorship.

Mission in Life

Most of the people try to obtain a better life for their children and siblings. The government takes gifted people from families and puts them into higher positions in society . This creates an ongoing change in the race whether it be better or worse.
The machinima character however because he is between to planes of exsistance he neither cares about the dicatatorship or help his family (of which he is alone in the modern world)

Special Features of the main character

the main character tends to drink alot and he cares mostly for his boat collection.
He is a being of two worlds so he struggles alot with the modernisation of a world once beautiful and without cares.
His attire is very simple. A few rags to keep him warm , sandles and sometimes a big wooly coat of a fur hat.


So that was just a brief description of the world and my characters in the machinima I hope you enjoyed it!

Character Kit for Machinima Character (Garmr)

1. Super Objective - To be obnoxious and annoy Hel as much as possible . To have the largest collection of model boats in the world.

2. I see myself as - Dare Devil, Drunkard, Couragous, Hermit and Cranky.

3.If I were a drink I would be a bottle of good old mead.

4. I dress to accentuate my quirks.

5. I dress to hide nothing

6. I lead with my ego

7. My idea of a good night is winning at cards, drinking, singing.

8.Bad night is losing at card, running out of mead and quietness.

9.Value my mate because he drink with me .

10. Favourite book/film/tv shows/ song....Drinking songs ( Don't know about all this young people stuff .... you know technology.)

11. Relaxing means drinking with Hel (mate) near the fire and making model boats.


This was just a few questions we had to do in the character of our machinima.
